SEO after AI search

Search has split into two channels: the classic list and the AI answer. Both reward the same thing – pages that answer a concrete question, with evidence and a structure a machine can read. The difference is that mistakes now surface faster.

Search behaviour has moved. More and more searches end without a click. The question 'what does a website cost' is answered directly in the response, and anyone missing from the material that response is built from does not appear at all – not at position one and not at position zero. That does not make SEO worthless. It means suppliers selling 'rankings' are selling something that is no longer the measure. The measures that matter are indexed pages, visibility on commercial terms, and how many people actually get in touch.

What still applies. The groundwork is unchanged, and it is still here that most companies lose. No AI crawler forgives a site that cannot be indexed.

Pages must be reachable by crawlers: no blocked robots.txt, no files behind a login, no duplicate versions of the same page.

Title, heading and opening paragraph must say the same thing, on every page. 'Home' and 'Our page' say nothing.

Every page needs a job: one page, one question, one action. Ten pages that all try to say everything does not work.

Internal linking should reflect your priorities, not your menu choices.

Load time and mobile performance are a precondition, not an improvement.

What is new. AI search reads pages, not advertisements. That means you have to be legible to machines in a way that was never required before. We do three things concretely: we write copy so every page opens with its answer, we publish structured data and an unambiguous factual base (organisation, prices, services, places), and we make sure the files AI crawlers read – robots.txt and llms.txt – actually admit them and tell the truth about the site. Important: the review is manual. We do not let a machine 'analyse your SEO' – a person reads the pages, compares them with the search result and writes the action list.

What an SEO engagement should contain. We split SEO into two engagements, because companies are in two different situations. A newly built or recently moved site needs a review. A working site with no visibility needs a pace. The SEO refresh is a one-off from SEK 9,900: technical review, action list, optimisation of the most important pages and AI-search readiness. Ongoing SEO is from SEK 4,900/month: continuous optimisation, content, follow-up and a report every month. Prices exclude VAT. Not buying anything yet? Then the analysis is a good first step. It is free, done manually by a person who reads your pages, and returns an action list with no obligation.

SEO or ads?. Ads answer this week, SEO answers this year. If you must sell tomorrow, advertise. If you must sell next year, content and structure are the right investment – and ads cannot replace them. We work with both, advertising from SEK 850/hour, and we rarely recommend ads to companies whose site cannot receive the traffic. Structure first, then press the accelerator.

From our own work. For Börsvärlden we spent three months on the personal finance pages: structure, keyword mapping, copy and ongoing follow-up. The assignment was not to 'rank high', but to appear on the questions that actually lead to readers and cases. For Stalljobb, which we are building right now, SEO is not an afterthought: structure, place pages and copy are planned before the first page is built. It is cheaper to build correctly from the start than to move a site and try to rescue visibility afterwards.

How to measure whether SEO works. Stop watching the position of a single word. Follow four things instead: indexed pages, the number of commercial terms you appear on, enquiries that do not come from ads, and searches for your own brand. Brand search is the most honest measure of all. It shows that someone heard about you elsewhere and is now actively looking for you.

AI search rewards pages that open with the answer, with evidence and a single factual base.

The groundwork is still unbroken: indexable pages, clear titles, one page – one question.

Budget SEK 9,900 for a review with an action list, SEK 4,900/month for ongoing work.

Measure indexed pages, commercial terms, organic enquiries and brand search – not one position.

How long does SEO take? Technical faults can be fixed within days. Visibility on commercial terms takes months, because search and AI answers need repeated confirmation before trusting a new site.

Can AI search harm us? Yes, if you publish machine-written content with no original information. Then you are joined by everyone writing the same text, and no crawler has a reason to pick you.

Do we have to blog every week? No. Fewer, deeper pages answering real questions beat regular posts with no owner. Pace should follow your customer situation, not a publishing calendar.

Are you finished after a review? For some companies yes – the action list is enough for you to do the rest yourselves. Help with the work itself is a separate engagement.

What do you need from us? Access to search tools, your site, your customers. The rest is our work: reading, comparing, writing and following up.
